Yes, She Could Have...

I'm getting a little bothered by people who keep insisting that Hillary "didn't reach out to them." Be honest. You were NEVER going to vote for her.
She reached out by adopting Bernie's platform issues (he admitted this during the convention). She reached out by reversing herself on TPP (which she took no shortage of shit for in the debates). She reached out by being a sane, rational actor in the race. Bernie reached out by cautioning you ad nauseum about the dangers of a Trump presidency.
Folks complained about fear tactics. They were reality tactics. One person was offering unity. The other was preaching divisiveness and fanning the flames of racist identity politics, climate change denial, fossil fuel praise, slashing government spending, deporting undocumented immigrants, and building a wall.
We live in a two-party system. Protest votes didn't change that in 92. They didn't change it in 2000. They didn't change it in 2016.
Stop talking about Clinton's failures. Pretending that you live in a country with a real multi-party system as opposed to the country you ACTUALLY live in resulted in president Trump.
I'll stop saying it when you do. Own your choice and stop looking outside your own ballot box. She could have won. Easily.

Open Letter to GOP recruiters

To whom it may concern: I am a telegenic, articulate, working, married father of two who owns his own house and a small business. Before you come knocking on my door, there are a few ground rules. Rule No. 1 No discussion of "The Party of Lincoln" without claiming Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms too. I know American history well enough, thank you. I also know that Thurmond was only a Democrat until the party decided to stand up for the rights of Black people. Then he jumped ship (while denying his own half-Black daughter) and led the drive to keeping a strong segregated state. What's this talk about "Hillary's time"?

Blog comment threads are full of snippets about voting for McCain if Obama is the Dem candidate. Apparently, supporting someone other than Hillary is a fundamental betrayal of her oft-discussed "35 years" of service to America. Notwithstanding the ridiculous assertion of that much "time in the trenches," I don't buy this argument at all. She was the unelected wife of an Arkansas Governor and a two-term President. Later, ONE STATE elected her to represent them in the Senate. Why exactly does the rest of the country owe her a free pass to the "most powerful political office in the world"? If Gore hadn't been sandbagged by Monicagate, Travelgate, FBI Filegate, Lincoln bedroom "sales", sketchy Chinese donors, NOT TO MENTION Hillary's failed healthcare push, this country might be an entirely different place right now.
